SCOTLAND NC500 DRIVING TOUR – LUXURY HIGHLANDS EXPERIENCE
This Scotland NC500 Driving Tour is built around the most scenic sections of the North Coast 500 — and complemented by additional Highland driving stages, including the Snow Roads through Cairngorms National Park (with a visit to Balmoral Castle) and a dramatic drive through Glen Coe. Together, these routes form a carefully curated journey across Scotland’s most compelling landscapes.
THE SPLENDOUR OF SCOTLAND ON A CURATED NC500 JOURNEY
This private driving adventure showcases Scotland at its most dramatic and diverse — remote coastlines, single-track Highland roads, mountain scenery, royal heritage, and cinematic landscapes. Rather than following the NC500 from start to finish, we focus on the sections that truly deliver for driving and scenery — and complement them with a few carefully selected Highland stages beyond the loop.
Highlights include:
Driving the most scenic sections of the North Coast 500, curated for road quality and landscape
The Snow Roads through Cairngorms National Park, including Scotland’s highest mountain pass
Balmoral Castle, the Scottish royal residence
A dramatic drive through Glen Coe, an ancient volcanic landscape framed by waterfalls and towering mountains
Iconic Scottish castles, including Eilean Donan Castle, Stirling Castle, and the ruins of Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness
Renowned whisky distilleries along the Malt Whisky Trail

Sample Itinerary:
DAY 1 ■ ARRIVAL – EDINBURGH
Individual arrival in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Upon arrival, enjoy a private transfer to your hotel. In the early evening, your chosen car, pre-programmed GPS, and printed roadbook are delivered. After a short tour briefing, you’re ready to begin your Scotland driving adventure — with support available throughout the trip.
DAY 2 ■ CAIRNGORMS & SNOW ROADS DRIVE
Depart Edinburgh and head north into Cairngorms National Park, following the scenic Snow Roads. This day features quiet country lanes, wide Highland scenery, and Scotland’s highest mountain pass, before reaching Balmoral Castle, the cherished summer residence of the British royal family.
Nearby, the Malt Whisky Trail offers the chance to explore renowned distilleries. You then continue to Inverness, the gateway to the NC500, where you settle into your boutique-style hotel and enjoy a glass of whisky by the fireplace in the evening.
DAY 3 ■ THE BEST SECTIONS OF THE NC500
Today focuses on the strongest and most scenic parts of the official North Coast 500. Expect wide, flowing country roads, remote back roads with little traffic, and dramatic Highland coastlines. You’ll cross an iconic bridge marking the northern extent of our curated NC500 route.
Beyond this point, the road becomes narrower and less engaging — so instead of continuing for the sake of completeness, you turn back and follow a more rewarding route toward Inverness.
This approach preserves the spirit of the NC500 while maximising driving enjoyment.
DAY 4 ■ GLEN COE & LOCH LOMOND
Begin the day driving along the shores of Loch Ness, passing the ruins of Urquhart Castle.
Later, visit Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks — famous long before its appearance as a James Bond filming location.
From here, continue into the dramatic landscapes of Glen Coe, an ancient volcanic valley shaped by glaciers, waterfalls, and towering peaks. This stretch delivers one of Scotland’s most cinematic driving experiences. Your day concludes in the Loch Lomond region, where you’ll check in for the night and enjoy a relaxed evening by the water.
DAY 5 ■ STIRLING CASTLE, THE KELPIES & EDINBURGH
After breakfast, depart Loch Lomond and drive east via Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most important historic fortresses. On the final stretch back toward Edinburgh, stop at The Kelpies, Andy Scott’s monumental horse sculptures — a fitting final highlight before returning to the capital.
Back in Edinburgh, you’ll check in for your final night.
DAY 6 ■ DEPARTURE – EDINBURGH
Private transfer to Edinburgh airport or railway station.
Tailor your journey with add-ons
— from Europe’s most iconic mountain passes to lakeside retreats and cultural highlights.

SKIP THE CITY — THE GLENEAGLES EXPERIENCE Scotland’s most iconic country estate, done the easy way.
Instead of starting in Edinburgh, head straight into the Scottish countryside. The Gleneagles Hotel is one of the UK’s most celebrated luxury hotels, set across a vast private estate offering championship golf, a world-class spa, country pursuits, and refined dining in a relaxed, timeless setting.

EXTRA DAY IN EDINBURGH Historic streets, iconic landmarks, and relaxed city exploration.
Visit Edinburgh Castle for iconic skyline views, stroll the Royal Mile through the Old Town, and unwind in Princes Street Gardens. For panoramic views, choose Calton Hill or Arthur’s Seat, then end the day with a whisky tasting or relaxed dinner before returning to your hotel in Scotland’s capital.

LOOP OF THE ISLE OF SKYE Dramatic coastal scenery, waterfalls, and an iconic Highland hike.
Add one extra day to your Scotland tour with a standalone drive to the Isle of Skye — home to some of the country’s most dramatic coastal scenery. Highlights include Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls, plus an optional hike to the Old Man of Storr (weather and fitness permitting), before returning to the mainland.
Stay at the Best: We carefully select a small collection of exceptional hotels along each route — places chosen for their location, comfort, and character. From alpine hideaways to iconic lakeside retreats, every stay is part of the experience, not just a stop for the night.
