SAN GIMIGNANO & VOLTERRA TOWN ROUTE
Italian mornings usually start with Espresso — once you had yours, let a scenic driving adventure start. Your hotel is located strategically above Florence to avoid the busy and narrow roads of the medieval town.
At the medieval hilltop town of San Gimignano discover the 13th century walls and medieval towers before you head to Volterra to take a stroll and discover the remains of the Etruscan Acropolis.
Later let the peaceful atmosphere at the ruins of San Galgano Abbey sink in before you continue to Siena. Where you have the chance to visit the famous Siena Cathedral.
At your hotel perched on a hilltop in Castelnuovo Berardenga, surrounded only by the silence of the Tuscan countryside you will jump in the pool and later enjoy a nice Italian dinner.
— DAY 3 —
CHIANTI WINE ROUTE
STRADA DEL VINO
Todays drive into Tuscany takes you over fast sweeping country roads of the Chianti wine region with the medieval town of Monteriggioni.
Feel free to reserve some time to shop at the famous PRADA outlet en route. Or head directly for Chianti. Since the 18th century the region is well known for its wine production.
The "Via Chiantiagiana" is also part of the historical Mille Miglia — the famous "thousand miles" open road race, which had originally taken place between 1927 and 1957. Mille Miglia played a major role in making car manufacturers like Porsche, Maserati, and Ferrari world-famous. Make some stops for views along your scenic route and get yourself to a bottle of fine Chianti wine to enjoy in the evening.
Back at Florence — stop at Piazza Michelangelo on a hill on the south bank of the Arno River, and enjoy the most stunning view over the city. You can make further plans for the evening, while we pick up the car from your hotel.

Drive seemingly endless fast sweeping country roads to reach the Benedictine monastery of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, where time seems to slow down.
On foot of the medieval town of Monticchiello, the oldest village in the region you will drive the most famous Cypress tree lined road that has graced so many postcards.
The way back to your hotel will take you past the impressive city walls of Montepulciano. Take a stroll into town before heading back to your hotel. On the way start thinking about what pasta you want for dinner.
